DESCRIPTION
Metrogyl 200 Tablet belongs to a group of medicines known as anti-microbial agents used to treat bacterial infections of the blood, brain, lung, bone, pelvic area, stomach lining, intestines, gum, teeth, following childbirth or wound infection following an operation. It is also used to treat infected leg ulcers, pressure sores, stomach ulcers caused by Helicobacter pylori, urinary or genital infections caused by Trichomonas parasite, amoebiasis (parasitic infection of the colon), and to prevent infections after surgery.
Metrogyl 200 Tablet contains metronidazole that works by preventing the production of proteins required by the harmful microorganisms for their survival. Thereby Metrogyl 200 Tablet treats bacterial and parasitic infections.
Your doctor will decide the duration depending on the type of infection. Some common side effects of Metrogyl 200 Tablet are nausea, vomiting, upset stomach, loss of appetite, dry mouth, and metallic taste. Most of these side effects do not require medical attention and resolve over time. However, if the side effects persist or worsen, consult a doctor.
Metrogyl 200 Tablet should not be used during pregnancy, especially during the first trimester and while breastfeeding. Do not drive or operate heavy machinery after taking Metrogyl 200 Tablet as it may cause dizziness and drowsiness.

•Bacterial infections: Metrogyl 200 Tablet is widely used to treat infections caused by anaerobic bacteria, including conditions like bacterial vaginosis and pelvic inflammatory disease.
•Protozoal infections: Metrogyl 200 Tablet is effective against protozoa such as Entamoeba histolytica (linked to amoebic dysentery); it inhibits protozoal reproduction.
•Dental infections: Metrogyl 200 Tablet is often prescribed in dentistry to address gum and oral cavity infections, particularly those caused by anaerobic bacteria. It may be paired with other antibiotics for enhanced results.
•Helicobacter Pylori Eradication: Metrogyl 200 Tablet helps eradicate helicobacter pylori, the bacterium associated with peptic ulcers, as part of a combination therapy, working alongside antibiotics and proton pump inhibitors.
Directions for Use
Tablet/capsule: Swallow it as a whole with water; do not crush, break or chew it. Syrup/suspension/drops: Shake the pack well before use. Take the prescribed dose by mouth using the measuring cup/dosing syringe/dropper.
