Description
Rifagut 400 tablet is an antibiotic medicine used to treat hepatic encephalopathy, diarrhoea, and irritable bowel syndrome associated with diarrhoea in patients 18 years and above. It contains rifaximin as the active substance, which works by preventing bacterial protein synthesis, thereby eliminating the bacteria and treating hepatic encephalopathy. It is important to take Rifagut 400 tablet in the exact dose and duration as prescribed by your doctor. You can take it with or without food. Do not stop taking this medicine, even if you feel better within a few days. Always finish the course of prescribed antibiotic medicines for effective treatment

Rifagut 400 mg tablet is used in the treatment of hepatic encephalopathy (a condition in which there is a loss of brain function when a damaged liver fails to remove toxins from the blood).

It is also used to treat infectious diarrhoea and irritable bowel syndrome with diarrhoea.
Contraindications

If you are allergic to rifaximin or any other ingredients of this medicine.

If you have liver disease.

If you have diarrhoea that is caused due to other factors but not bacteria, for example, viral diarrhoea.

If you have symptoms of blockage in the bowel, stomach pain or constipation.

If you have bloody diarrhoea.

If you have diarrhoea along with fever.

If you experience allergic reactions to rifabutin, rifapentine or rifampicin.
