DESCRIPTION

Merisoft Chromic Catgut is a natural, absorbable surgical suture manufactured by Meril Life Sciences. It is designed for short-to-medium-term wound support and is treated with chromium salts to enhance its durability compared to plain catgut.

Technical Specifications

• Material: Purified connective tissue (mostly collagen) derived from the submucosal layer of sheep intestine.

• Structure: Twisted multifilament (often described as having a “virtual monofilament” feel due to precise polishing).

• Coating: Treated with chromium salt solution to delay enzymatic digestion.

• Color: Brown (dyed) or Dark Tan.

• Sterilization: Gamma Radiation or Ethylene Oxide (EO).

• Packaging: Typically packed in a solution of Isopropyl Alcohol and demineralized water to maintain pliability and reduce “memory” (the tendency of the suture to stay coiled).
