DESCRIPTION
Ecosprin AV 150mg capsule is an antiplatelet and statin drug belonging to the platelet aggregation and HMG CoA reductase inhibitors category, containing the active ingredient Aspirin, Atorvastatin. This combination medication is commonly used to reduce the risk of cardiovascular events in patients at high risk, such as those with high cholesterol and a history of heart disease or stroke.
This drug should not be given to teenagers and children who have or are recovering from viral infections, particularly chickenpox or influenza. In these cases, it has been associated with developing Reye’s syndrome, a serious condition affecting the liver and brain. This capsule is primarily metabolized in the liver and eliminated through the kidneys. Individuals with severe liver or kidney disease may have impaired clearance of this drug and an increased risk of toxicity. Therefore, caution is advised, and the dosage may need to be adjusted. Ecosprin AV 150mg capsule can increase the risk of bleeding. Hence, it is contraindicated in individuals with active bleeding conditions, such as bleeding ulcers, bleeding disorders, or recent hemorrhagic strokes.
Uses and Benefits
Ecosprin AV capsule 150mg is an analgesic used in the treatment of mild to moderate pain and fever (for temporary relief) and also in relieving pain and inflammation associated with musculoskeletal and joint disorders, juvenile rheumatoid arthritis. The medicine further helps to reduce clots in the blood vessels and risk of death or nonfatal myocardial infarction in patients with preceding infarction or unstable angina pectoris (chest pain). However, the uses mentioned here are not exhaustive. There may be other conditions for which this medication may be used upon doctor’s discretion.
