DESCRIPTION
Candid TV Suspension is a specialized antifungal topical medication used to treat common skin and scalp conditions caused by fungal or yeast growth. It is most frequently prescribed for dandruff (seborrheic dermatitis) and tinea versicolor (a condition causing small, discolored patches on the skin).
Key Composition
The effectiveness of the suspension comes from its dual-action formula:
-
Clotrimazole ($1\%$ w/v): A broad-spectrum antifungal that stops the growth of fungi by damaging their cell membranes.
-
Selenium Sulfide ($2.5\%$ w/v): An anti-infective agent that slows the turnover of skin cells, reducing flaking, scaling, and itching.
How to Use
-
For Scalp (Dandruff):
-
Wet the hair and scalp thoroughly.
-
Apply enough suspension to produce a lather and massage gently.
-
Crucial: Leave it on for 5 minutes before rinsing thoroughly.
-
Typically used twice a week or as directed by a doctor.
-
-
For Skin (Tinea Versicolor):
-
Apply a thin layer to the affected areas.
-
Leave it on for the duration recommended by your doctor (often 10–30 minutes) before washing it off.
-
Important Safety Tips
-
Remove Jewelry: Selenium sulfide can discolor gold, silver, and other metallic jewelry. It is best to remove them before application.
-
External Use Only: Avoid contact with eyes, nose, and mouth. If contact occurs, rinse immediately with cold water.
-
Hair Treatments: Do not use the suspension 48 hours before or after chemical hair treatments (dyeing, bleaching, or perming).
-
Common Side Effects: You may experience mild burning, redness, or skin irritation at the application site. If these persist, consult your dermatologist.
