. Preparation

• Wash your hands: Wash your hands with warm, soapy water and dry them thoroughly. This helps to clean the testing site and promotes blood flow.
• Prepare the lancing device: Insert a new, sterile lancet into the lancing device and adjust the depth setting to a comfortable level. You may need to experiment to find the right depth that produces a sufficient blood sample without causing too much pain.
• Insert a test strip: Take a new test strip from its vial and insert it firmly into the meter. The meter should automatically turn on and display a symbol indicating it’s ready for a blood sample (often a flashing blood drop icon).
• 2. Obtaining the Blood Sample
• Prick your finger: Press the lancing device firmly against the side of your fingertip and press the release button to prick the skin.
• Get the blood sample: Gently massage your finger from the base towards the tip to form a drop of blood. It is recommended to wipe away the first drop of blood and use the second drop for the test.

3. Applying the Blood and Reading the Result

• Apply the blood: Touch the tip of the test strip to the blood drop. The strip will automatically draw the blood into the reaction area.
• Wait for the result: The meter will begin a countdown (typically 5 to 8 seconds) and then display your blood glucose reading on the screen.
• Dispose of the used materials: Use the strip ejection feature on the meter to discard the used test strip without touching it. Then, carefully remove and dispose of the used lancet in a sharps container.
